DUSAC wins BSAC's Branch of the Year award
Dublin University Sub-Aqua Club has scooped first prize in BSAC’s new club initiative, Branch of the Year.
Yes unbelievable as it sounds, DUSAC has been awarded the very prestigious award known as 'B.S.A.C. Branch of the Year 2008'!
We are now officially the best!! ...We just all thought we were before! Now we have the proof and the certificate!
But not just a certificate...for coming 1st place in this international competition, we are being awarded with five full sets of Scubapro gear valued at GB£ 5,000.
More specifically...
5 x R295 Scubapro regs
5 x R295 Octopus
5 x Compact Pressure Gauges
5 x T-OIne BCD's
5 x Aladin Prime Computers
and 5 x 12L cylinders
The Branch of the Year award aims to reward BSAC branches in terms of diving, training and member recruitment throughout the year.
Our application was sucessfull because of:
the number of new and renewing members,
the number of dives each member did,
the number of members who attended skill development courses,
the number of members who attended instructor courses and exams,
and,
the number of divers who progressed to a higher diving grade
all the above, during the period 1st January to 31st October 2008 inclusive.
Without the efforts and enthusiasm of all club members this award would not have been possible! Well done to everyone!
Although, this year's committee made the application, recognition and thanks must be given to last years committee also, in particular:
Ronan Barry and Caitriona McLean
with a special thanks to Laura Mulhair (present committee) for finalising the application and getting it in on time!
A Celebratory Night will be announced shortly! Watch this Space!
